It is known as Shopping Cart in English, called as Trolley in England, in Australia, in New-Zealand as Carriage, in some parts of America as Basket or Buggy, in East-Hungary as wagon.
Shopping trolleys can be found at department stores, especially at supermarkets. They are used in case of bigger shopping. More products fit into it, it is more comfortable to roll or even lean on it or to sit a child into it.
In America and in Western Europe it is very common that the customers can leave the shopping trolleys in the parking-lot and the employees take them back to the container. Lately here in Hungary the homeless ask for the customers’ permission to roll them back to their place and thus they keep the 20 or 100 HUF coins. They are mostly made from metal and plastic, are designed to slip into one another regarding room economy where they are stored from closing to opening time. Bevásárlókocsi Trolleys are made in many different forms throughout the world, from the big ones for children to sit to the small sized ones for the kids to push.
Special pieces are also made for two children to sit in and electrical ones for disabled, because in America more than 24000 child accidents happen yearly. Some stores provide little children with such trolleys that look like cars. They are short, to sit in, can be steered and have a head. Their aim is to protect children from falling, colliding or products which would hurt them if they fell, and time goes by with more fun, thus parents can concentrate on their duty. Usually they roll on four wheels and they all turn for manoeuvrability, if one of them gets stuck it results in more difficult control. In case of loaded carts they can be stabilizes with rubber breaks on the back wheels due to "drifting". There are such shopping trolleys whose frontal two wheels can only be moved and the back ones are fixed.
The other device used for shopping is the basket, which is probably more willingly used by customers, but they are used only in smaller shops and for less purchase. Those customers or homeless people who steal trolleys cause problem for shop owners.
